"Courage and Strength: Portraits of Those Who Have Served"

November 13, 2012

The Honolulu Museum of Art's exhibition of photographs, "Courage and Strength:  Portraits of Those Who Have Served", is a collection of intimate moments.  All the photo subjects have been deployed in Afghanistan or Iraq, America's contemporary wars, and the expressions on their faces hint at a well of experience we really need to share.  SFC Karry James found three thoughtful and generous soldiers who helped lift the veil on what might be behind those eyes.  My deepest mahalo to Captain Susan Lindsey, SFC Nohea Nakooka-Williams, and Major Will Jumper.  Here, a rough cut of Major Jumper's reflections.
