John Tanji Koga: How To Get Things Done And Have Fun Doing Them
Sculptor, painter, fabricator in general, John Koga, is also a connector. He plugs in by working with his head, hands and heart. Many, many projects in Honolulu, big and small, even just whispers of ideas, have come to fruition with a nudge here and there from John. Here, he talks about his own work, and the history he bridges with his awareness. The great lusty painters he talks about, those trailblazers who headed to New York City after WWII, are local guys who made good and came back to become successful artists here. Many, thanks to their wives. Pardon the edits, as John proceeds to talk about the importance of marketing for artists and the possibilities for Hawai'i's art and culture to take center stage someday, a la Art Basel, in a grand community building celebration.
